Summary
A well-established provider of specialized products and services to highly regulated industries is seeking an experienced Purchasing & Logistics Specialist to support procurement operations and oversee domestic and international logistics activities.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing process, coordinating shipments, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely movement of goods through the supply chain. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is passionate about driving operational efficiency across purchasing and logistics functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Process, manage, and expedite purchase orders while ensuring timely delivery and order accuracy.
- Monitor open and overdue purchase orders, proactively following up with suppliers to meet delivery commitments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments from supplier collection through final delivery.
- Manage import/export activities, including customs clearance, duties, tariffs, and shipping documentation requirements.
- Track shipments and proactively resolve transportation delays, customs issues, and other logistics challenges.
- Coordinate inter-company transfers and associated purchasing, transportation, and documentation activities.
- Support inventory management efforts, including monitoring stock levels, reducing excess inventory, and processing returns or damaged goods.
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, freight efficiency, and overall supply chain performance.
- Participate in supply chain, purchasing, and logistics-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, logistics, or a related role.
- Hands-on experience managing domestic and international shipments.
- Working knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations, customs requirements, and international shipping compliance.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers.
- Strong understanding of international shipping processes and Incoterms.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills.
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive, flexible, and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems is highly desirable.
